Make Yourself a Resource

Do you have a Resources page on your blog?  I’m sure you have a collection of your favorite sites, and it probably took you a very long time to collect them all. If you take a look through your bookmarks you will probably have a few that are related to the topic of your blog. If you do, why not create a Resources page for your visitors?

Many training manuals, user guides, ebooks and ecourses will typically have a Reference section or a Resource list.  These are included because they provide supplemental information to whatever is being taught.  But on the internet there’s just so much excellent, but hidden information! No one person can find them all.  Having a list of this valuable information organized and listed in one location makes your blog a resource! It’s definitely much easier to keep track of on URL on your favorite topic than 100s.

Here’s a tip: Annotate your resource list.  Add the URL, and you own personal description and review of the site. It only has to be a couple of sentences long.  As you continue to build your resource list, it will become more and more valuable – and much longer…. Et voila – you have your next info product! When you get to about 50 or 100 links, you can copy and paste them into a Word document, convert to PDF and have your very own annotated topical resource list up for sale. No writing involved!  :)  Well not much writing at once.

What a fabulous idea! You’re so smart! I started putting mine in the sidebar and it’s getting unwieldy already. Would NEVER have thought of a page or a product. Thank you, Gwen. You’re a peach.

Gwen, thanks for the timely reminder. I have “starts” of these resource lists all over the place. Putting them all together just makes so much sense. You offer great value and insights to people to work smarter in this online environment.

You’ve produced another winner here, Gwen! I always find something of tremendous value by reading your posts. :-)

I’ve come across a lot of web sites that don’t include a list of resources. That’s too bad … and I hope they all filter over here to your blog so they can clearly see the benefit!

Your page is entitled, “Tools and Resources”, and the tab at the top of my site reads, “My Rolodex of Resources”. I’ve included a little intro story and a photo of everyone on my list. Now that the 30-day blogging challenge is over, I’ve got a few more experts to add to my roster!!

Excellent advice. I would not have even thought of that but it makes perfect sense – and goes along with Deb’s idea of using OPV (other people’s videos) on your youtube channel to help your folks know what you really do recommend.
    Thank you for this idea.

    Hi Melanie,

That’s very nice Melanie, the photos and your description adds such a personal touch. Since you call it a Rolodex, I expect I would get personal service from each one of your personal recommendations. Good job with that and thanks for sharing!!

Thank you also for being a regular visitor on my blog :)

    Hi Bobbye,

I know what you mean, I have a number of bookmarks using different services – but I dont remember what the services are. If I can train myself to put them in one place, that can be shared that would make me much more organized. I really appreciate your support and compliments!

    Thanks for visiting,
