All the talk about 30-Day Blogging Challenge and the EzineArticles 100 Articles in 100 Days has gotten me to thinking about my posts on my blog. For some reason whenever I write a post and click Publish, I just get a spinning icon, nothing happens. I panic every time thinking I’ve lost all that I’ve written. But that’s just for a single post (it just happens to occur with just about every post). What about all of the other posts that I have? You never know when you might just lose everything. Earlier in the 30 Day Blogging Challenge, I wrote about protecting your blog. That’s fine to secure the blog and keep it safe from intruders. But you also should backup your site, especially your posts… just in case something happens.
Here are some pages that will show you how to backup both WordPress and Blogger blogs.
WordPress Blogs
This page has a lot of information and the instructions it contains tends to be pretty techy. I’d like for you to still visit the page and read the first section that answers questions about backing up your blog even if you don’t have enough experience to perform the steps they describe.

Now, to make things easy, there is a WordPress backup plug-in available. This site has instructions on how to download the plug-in to your desktop and upload it to your site. I recommend you install it directly from the Plugins section of your WordPress admin area. The name of the plugin is WP-DB-Backup.

Blogger Blogs
Backing up your Blogger blog is a little different. It involves downloading your posts to your desktop. It’s very easy to do. Basically, you just save a page that has all of your posts. You can also save any images you may have. Please see the instructions here:

Others suggest that you have Blogger automatically email each of your posts as you enter them, in that case you will have them all stored in your email account (that could be cool).
I hope this is helpful!

Excellent advice for us to PUT INTO ACTION now that have almost 30 days worth of valuable info on our sites just from this challenge (and probably lots more from before).
Thanks for identifying the plugin for us Gwen. You’re definitely looking out for us.
Now people just have to TAKE ACTION – install the plug-in an do the backup

By the way, what plug-in or method are you using for your latest comments. I love it.

In response to Terrie’s comment:
Hi Terrie,
The plugin is called Recent Comments. You should probably be able to install it from the Plugins page inside your WP admin area. Let me know if you need any help!
Thanks for visiting,
