Did I Make My Goals?

So, in a post from last week, I outlined 3 small things I was going to do for my blog during the past week. Did I complete them? No. And I’m not surprised about that at all. I already knew it wasn’t going to happen when I started procrastinating and doing other things around the blog.

Let’s recap what I did and didn’t do. I DID create a new category in my blog called My Goals and started adding posts to it. I DID make 3 new friends, in fact I believe I added 4 new friends in total to my Cool Friends list :) I DID NOT post 3 photos, unfortunately. I DID however post one photo. The reason I didn’t post more is that I just didn’t find many of my photos that I felt I wanted to post on my blog – and that’s OK. At least I tried – one out of three is better than none. Perhaps one day soon I will shoot some better photos and have a collection to choose from? LOL

I do feel that if my main goal was to start keeping up with my blog, I did accomplish that even if I didnt post those two other photos. I redesigned the blog, started posting new stuff in general, started visiting other’s blogs and just cleaning up around the place altogether. So I do feel successful :)

But that’s what its all about – finding different ways to get to your destination. Sometimes when we plan our trip, we might take a few detours that either makes the trip a little more interesting (sometimes a little more dangerous), but as long as we arrive where we want does it really matter what path we took to get there? Going a different route is a little different than not completing the trip at all though. If you plan to drive 100 miles and only drive 10, well you will just never reach your destination. At that point you might just want to sit down and have a little talk with yourself and get back on the road.

Ok, I’m really killing this metaphor aren’t I? So I’m going to stop here! :) The gist is it’s OK if you make a plan and go in another direction (we all have our reasons), but still reach the goal! On the other hand, if you constantly find yourself stopping before reaching your goal, take a break, readjust and try again.

  2. Hi Gwen,

Stay Positive and Stay focused!! :)

I don’t know of you have heard of the song by Whitney Houston from “A Preachers Wife” I can’t remember the title but the saying goes something like……

“step by step, brick by brick, stone by stone, day by day”

Remember every little step counts to the momentum of our larger goals.

    Keep it up. xxx :D

  3. Hi Gwen

The fact you make plans is in itself great!

Plans can change on a daily basis. As long as you keep this in mind and adapt you’ll always sray on track.

    Regards

    Gwen,
Great advice! I often times change direction during the day but I still try and accomplish what I’ve set out to do…even if I do them in a different order ;)
In the end all that matters is that they are done…right?
    Blog looks great…I’ll be back,
    Kathy
